Holiday Parties at Checkerspot
20–150 in the mezzanine · up to 500 for a full buyout
Book your eventDecember at a brewery sounds like this: a room that is a little too loud, someone's manager giving a speech they definitely did not rehearse, and the quiet one from accounts turning out to be frighteningly good at pinball. That is the night we are set up for.
Your own semi-private space above the taproom, beer made about fifty feet from where you are drinking it, and none of the hotel-ballroom carvery energy. Twenty to a hundred and fifty people — which, as it happens, is what most office parties actually are.
What the night looks like
You get the mezzanine to yourselves, overlooking the main taproom so the room still has a pulse underneath it. Use of the main bar, and an hour beforehand to hang up whatever you are hanging up. Downstairs there is the arcade — pinball, Golden Tee, Pac-Man, ring toss — and a stack of board games, which between them do more for a group of colleagues in ten minutes than any organised icebreaker has managed in the whole history of organised icebreakers.
If it is the whole company
We open the main taproom out into one room that takes up to five hundred. A private bartender, a stage for the speeches and the awards, and two projectors for the year-in-review slideshow that nobody admits to enjoying.
The beer
All of it brewed here in small batches, and all of it gluten-reduced — which quietly solves a problem you would otherwise have to email the entire office about.
One thing about December
Dates go first come, first served, and we are usually full by the end of October. If you have a week in mind, it is worth telling us now rather than in November. Send us the date and a rough headcount and we will take it from there.
A look at the room

Before you get in touch
- How far ahead should we book?
- As early as you can. Dates are first come, first served, and December is usually gone by the end of October.
- How many people can you host?
- Twenty to a hundred and fifty in the semi-private mezzanine, and up to five hundred if you take the whole building. Smaller groups of ten to twenty are welcome in the taproom with no minimum.
- Is there a stage and AV for speeches?
- Yes. The big room has a stage and two projectors, which covers speeches, awards, and the slideshow.
- Can we decorate?
- Yes. Every booking includes an hour beforehand to set up and decorate before anyone arrives.
- Is there food?
- Yes — our kitchen sends food out to the room, and preferred caterers are available for bigger parties. What that looks like depends on your group, so it is a conversation rather than a fixed menu.
- Is there anything to do besides drink?
- The arcade — pinball, Golden Tee, Pac-Man and ring toss — and plenty of board games, which tend to be the ones that keep a table talking.
